Women’s Sports Report (“WSR”, “we”, “us”) publishes news, analysis and coverage of professional and NCAA women’s sports at womenssportsreport.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us. Your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter. Your name, email address and message when you contact us, send a story tip, or pitch us work. Any details you include when you submit an event or a job listing.
Information collected automatically. Standard server log data — IP address, browser type, the pages requested, the referring page and a timestamp — recorded by our hosting provider for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
Cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies that make the site function, and, where we use them, analytics cookies that tell us which stories are being read. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles about individual readers.
How we use it
- To send you the newsletter you asked for
- To respond to messages, story tips and pitches
- To understand which coverage readers value, so we can commission more of it
- To keep the site secure, fast and working
We do not sell your personal information.
Newsletter and email
Our newsletter is delivered through a third-party email platform. When you subscribe, your email address and basic engagement data — whether a message was opened, whether a link was clicked — are processed by that provider on our behalf. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Analytics
Where analytics are in place, we use them in aggregate: which articles are read, how readers arrive, which pages need work. We do not attempt to identify individual readers from analytics data.
Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate links
WSR is an independent publication supported by advertising, sponsorship and affiliate arrangements. Sponsored content is labelled as sponsored. Where a link earns us a commission, we disclose it. If we introduce third-party ad serving, we will update this policy before it goes live and explain what data those partners receive.
Sports data
Scores, schedules and statistics shown on WSR are supplied by licensed third-party data providers. Those feeds carry sports information only and do not collect personal information about you.
Who we share information with
Service providers who help us operate: our web host, our email platform, and our analytics provider. Each receives only what it needs to do its job. We may disclose information where we are legally required to. If WSR is ever sold or merges with another business, information may transfer as part of that transaction.
Your choices and your rights
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your information
Depending on where you live — including California and the EEA or UK — you may have additional statutory rights over your personal information. We honour these requests from every reader regardless of location. Contact us and we will respond.
Children
WSR is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep information
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle the matter and keep a record of it. Server logs are retained for a limited period in line with our host’s standard practice.
Changes to this policy
We will revise this page as WSR grows and update the date at the top. Where a change is significant, we will say so on the site rather than change it quietly.
